Need New Resistors For LED Taillights

Recommended Posts

What's your best suggestion? The ones that came with my tails made it thru half a winter and I'm finally ready to put in some new ones. Preferably ones that will last longer. Thanks in advance for links.

I contacted an eBay seller of LED tail lights and bought extra resistors from them. I think it was Saber Motorsports, and I think they were $5 each for the black rectangle style that slide clip.

We've had great luck with the Sylvania Load Equalizers

Each LED bulb has two wires coming from it in my tails, so 4 total wires.

Would one need 4 of those resistors per tail light in this scenario?

One resister per bulb.

Philips 21 watt. Here: https://www.amazon.com/Philips-Vision-CAN-bus-Warning-Canceller/dp/B00P2D46N2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1471385797&sr=8-1&keywords=philips+resistor

They sell them in packs of 2 and are 30% less than Sylvania ones. Do not buy anything lighting except Philips IMO. I also recommend swapping to the Phillips bulb they have a 12 yr guarantee, super happy with mine.

This thread should help select bulb sizes.

I believe the Bulb is this, says it fits Chevy in Rear position think that mean your stahp and running lights are same bulb type (4 total to do both sides) https://www.amazon.com/Philips-7443-Intense-Vision-light/dp/B00P2D3W0A/ref=sr_1_1?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1471444613&sr=1-1&keywords=Philips+7443+Vision+LED

You only need warning canceler on the one(s) that blink.

The Philips bulbs are specifically designed to be a direct replacement in your reflective housings which is why the chips face the way they do. A lot of other bulbs just have a bunch of chips slapped onto a cylinder like this which is junk hence the price diff: https://www.amazon.com/Yolu-18SMD-Supper-Bright-Parking/dp/B01C00Y8I2/ref=sr_1_9?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1471445660&sr=1-9&keywords=3157+led+bulb
