Damaged Spray in Bed Liner

Hey guys,

Got my '15 1500 back in December and had a spray in bed liner added by the dealership as part of an accessory promo they were doing at the time. The liner brand is "Reflex" and it has a much tackier surface than other spray in bed liners that I have seen - almost to the point where it feels rubbery to the touch.

I had a pallet of pavers loaded into the bed of my truck and when I had unloaded the pallet by hand, I noticed multiple rips in the bed liner. I couldn't believe that a spray in bed liner had been ripped off of the surface it was sprayed onto. It's insane, you pay more for these things because they're supposed to be more durable and not even a year after buying the truck, the liner had been damaged.

Anybody have a similar experience? I'm definitely thinking that I need to go back to the dealer for a re-spray because patch jobs just look like crap in my opinion.

It's all in how they prep it. Can you see under the rips? Is it metal or paint that is there? Sounds like they did a real bad prep job or the liner is on the cheap side. I've never heard of reflex. Not what you want to hear I know. Hopefully the dealer will take care of it for you.

Yeah I can see under the liner in the spots where it ripped up. It looks to me like there is paint underneath, but those spots had also been scratched up by the pallet. I can't tell if the installers hit the entire bed with a wire brush before application, which I believe is supposed to be done. Needless to say, I think we can all agree that this shouldn't happen. I hope the dealer takes care of it as well. Thanks for the reply!

And FYI, here's a link to the liner brand: http://www.langeman.com/spray-on-truck-bedliners/REFLEX/why-reflex

happens all the time when you set a pallet down and then push it forward with the forks, seen it dozens of times on the trucks I work on. The guy that did my liner on the 14 told me up front it would happen if you do that, it did so I went back to a drop in liner on my 16

I hear you on that... I had the drop in prior to my linex. I was worried about water getting underneath and just creating a rust environment.. I had the factory drop in with those " slide plugs" for where the tie down hooks were.. They never sealed or fit right..

If I was gonna get a pallet and have to slide it I would probably toss a sheet of cheap plywood in the bed first. I typically try to not have pallets put in my truck unless I am the one running the tow motor, I've got a tail gate protector that I made when I have to do it.

I have a linex spray in liner. But I also have a rubber mat for added protection. If you slide something in like pallet, furnature, etc, if it gets caught it will just push the mat forward and doesn't damage the liner. But my mat is from my old 03 silverado stepside so it just fits between the wheelwell so it has the freedom to move around.

We have a few company trucks that have the spray in liner. We are a sheet metal company so sharp edged materials is routinely tossed in and drug out. After a couple of years about 20% of the spray in liner has been knocked off typically. Just the nature of the beast. You have to treat it like what it is "FRAGILE" if you want it to stay in like new condition. And yes most tailgates are messed up pretty quickly by the forklifts, one of ours actually has a big slot where the fork penetrated the edge of the tailgate LOL.
