My cruise control stopped working in my 2014 GMC Sierra 1500 5.3L SLT about a month ago. The cruise light comes on in white but wont engage the cruise control. I have looked in the user manual and have not found a reference as to a fuse that i could check. I called a local dealer and they recommended I take it in for diagnostic and pay $75. I would prefer not to if i can avoid it.

I have read that this may be caused by a faulty brake switch that needs replacing. Does anyone know of another reason or solution? Where is the brake switch located?

I'm new here so any information would help. Thanks..

Brake switch should be located bellow the brake pedal? I would think your break light would be on.

Also are you out of warranty?

I've checked and it isn't in the place I've seen in older models online. Break lights turn on and off normally. 50K miles so out of warranty unfortunately.

Not 100 percent on this, but I believe the brake switch has 2 sets of contacts in it, one for the brake lights, one for the cruise control cancellation. Switch should be just above the brake pedal.
