Ditched the wood grain interior trim!

I decided I was sick of the wood grain trim in my 15 SLT. The pieces on the center console were the only areas of the whole interior that would actually rattle if you tapped on them, and I hated the fake wood look.

So.... Here's what we did. A friend who also has a 15 decided to hang out and do his as well since I had plenty of material. I think it turned out stellar. Makes the truck have a whole different feel inside to me. Not too much carbon, just the right accent amount.

Nice work!

Only issue I see is that there is no beer in any of the progress pics.

Love that! I'm looking into having mine hydro-dipped black kryptek camo (love that shit). They look fantastic, especially with the black leather.

Sweet. I was going to go the hydrodip route but I already had the 3M wrap sitting around. I love it more every time I get in the truck. Feels so much different than the poorly implemented fake wood.

It looks GREAT! What is the material that you used? Does the trim just pop off?

He using Dinoc "carbon fiber" not sure which color but there quite a few carbon fiber colors, Dinoc is a textured and very forgiving vinyl. I really love ME-379, its like 2 colors in 1!

on the other forum heres some pics of my 2013 Denali its amazing stuff, but even with the 3m glue around the edges it started to peel in the TX heat.

The textured wrap looks much better with the carbon fiber. Looks more high end. Hydrodipped carbon fiber looks like crap IMO

3M Carbon 1080 Scotchprint vinyl wrap. Not Dinoc....

Dinoc is a lot stiffer and harder to contour, and a lot of people say the 1080 looks more real as well. They both look cool but 1080 is easier to work.

I used the 3m primer too on all the tight contours and edges just to make sure I had great adhesion, then set it all with a heat gun when I had it trimmed and stretched.

The pieces pop off the doors but usually leave the metal clips, so you have to pull those and reinstall them back on the pieces. The center console snaps apart and then you have to remove a screw from each side of the trim there to get it out.

I would bet 1080 wouldn't peel. Dinoc is hard to get to lay on tight contours.

Just checked out the link. Looks great man. Sorry to hear it's peeling.

How hard would it be to wrap the silver on the steering wheel and around the radio to match?

I don't like the woodgrain and am thinking of this. Just have the doors, no console, but it looks like I'd have to get a lot more material. And then what do I do with it?

I did the same thing to my AT, I like the look of the textured CF over the glossy CF print on those pieces. The rears are a botch though, compound curve on the bottom makes them a pain to get the wrap to lay flat with no wrinkles.

I want to do the steering wheel and the vent/radio bezel next.
