ODO, DIC, HOUR METER CHANGED FROM ENGLISH TO FRENC

HEY ALL........My bud just got a 03 Chevy p-u.

He was messing with the radio and/or DIC and the

odo, DIC, and hour meter changed from english/odo miles to French. Now odo reads KMs and the DIC is

showing French !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

 

The owners manual sez nothing about changing it back.

 

Any Ideas???????????..........thanks........geo

 

BTW: He has a delco base am-fm radio....No tape or cd.

I have the steering wheel controls, so mine is easy to change: Push the 'driver information' button on the steering wheel, and scroll to the option for language. Once there, press the driver info button again and you can change to English.

Here is info straight from owners manual:

These options are only available with steering wheel controls(language changes)

 

To select your personalization for display language, press the select button while DISPLAY LANGUAGE is displayed on the DIC. Pressing the select button will scroll through the following languages:

 

English

French

Spanish

You can also scroll through the different languages by pressing and holding the trip reset stem for four seconds, as long as you are in the season odometer mode.

 

Choose one of the three options and press the personalization button while it is displayed on the DIC to select it.

 

If you accidentally choose a language that you don't want or understand, press and hold the personalization button and the trip information button at the same time. The DIC will begin scrolling through the languages in their particular language. English will be in English, French will be in French and so on. When you see the language that you would like, release both buttons. The DIC will then display the information in the language you chose.

GUYS...Its a base truck with no steering wheel controls.

He says manual sez something about pressing a certain

button on radio....No such button there....hmmmmmm

What about using the tripmeter reset button? Does that cycle through the menus?

Mine has just the base DIC. I think just holding the TRIP button down, as Firetiger sez for SEVERAL seconds will do the job. I've tripped the language option by accident through the TRIP button. Try first with the ignition completely off. But hold the button down for several seconds. I don't think the radio does anything for this---can't remember.

Mike, the base truck has no SELECT button, as page 3-59 recommends. If you can find another page in the manual for base trucks.

2nd to last paragraph...

I should have added that you get to this menu by pressing and holding your trip reset stem until "select language" shows on the DIC. Then press the reset to scroll through the choices. Try it, it works... Just make sure you start with the odometer displayed, if you do it with the trip odometer, it just resets it.
