Looking for Fuel tank Toolbox combination

So been looking online for a fuel tank toolbox combination. So far everything I find has very large fuel tanks and a tiny toolbox. The toolbox almost seems like it is an afterthought in these combinations. I am looking for one that is just about 1/2 fuel tank and 1/2 toolbox. My current tool box on my 1500 is huge. It is really a great add on to my soon to be former truck. . It is so big that it could easily fit a person in there. We keep all kinds of stuff in it when we are towing or using the truck as a truck.

So I know that I am not going to get one that big but these 6 to 10 inch deep ones aren't cutting it for a toolbox for us.

I have a short bed and we are planning on pulling a 5th wheel. So we will need the clearance for the 5th wheel. We are thinking that at most a 40 gallon fuel tank with a 57 (L) X 21 (W) X 12-15 (H) toolbox would be perfect.

Anyone seen any set-up like we want?

I have a RDS model # 72744 if i remember the number correctly. I like it a lot,i have gravity feed on it now but i have bought a electric pump to add on it but have not done so yet. I liked this model better because it has a 10 inch high tool box instead of the 6 on the others I was looking at and it fits under my tonnuae cover. It holds 40 gallons of diesel fuel for me. With yours being in a short bed and you want to add a 5th wheel hitch that's going to be a tight fit I would think.. just keep looking to see if something suits your needs.

So the tool box sits at the tailgate? And the fuel tank sits at the very front of the bed? Don't think that this is going to work for us because we would like to use the bed as a regular pu when we aren't towing. It is a very nice set up.

I tend to stack, block anything else needed to haul on top of tank, Fifth Wheel and tool box.

Debra,

A company called The Fuel Box makes very high quality boxes in many different combinations of fuel/storage and for different size beds. The company is out of California. I'm jealous of your proximity to them. Shipping the fuelbox is expensive. Please let me know what you think.

Check out Highway Products...they have 5th wheel Fuel & Tool boxes, regular Fuel & Tool boxes, and the larger L shape Fuel & Tool boxes. These are some of the best quality boxes on the market. I recently ordered a custom "narrowed" width low profile cross bed box (no fuel), so you always have that option too...a custom size to meet your needs...

Coming from my last two trucks being long beds I am in the same boat and very interested. I now only have 3.5ft of bed left after my 36gal tank and 28" weatherguard box. All the boxes that are combo fuel/storage have tiny storage areas, I am happy with my 36gal tank but would like to gain some bed back.
