I'm so fed up with GM's "service" and I'm not sure

Today's update:

 

GM had me go out and get a quote for the work that would be required to fix the issue. I went out and got a quote to strip down the 4 doors and bed area and get them refinished. The quote I got was $3700. I emailed the quote to the case manager and waited.

 

Today I got a call from Dealership B saying they were calling on behalf of GM Customer Service. They said they put together their own quote from the warranty information and they came out to $2700. GM was willing to pay 60% of this. So that would leave me on the hook for a little over $1000.

 

What was the point of me getting a quote if they were just going to get a second one based on the warranty info anyways? Where'd this 60% number come from? Who knows.

 

I haven't accepted the offer. I've got an appointment with a lawyer first.

That's exactly what they did when our Malibu's transmission exploded (offered 60%). And that was a known issue with a crappy transmission (bad 3-5 wave plate).

Another update:

 

The dealer called me back today to say that after he reported to GM that I wouldn't accept their first offer. GM came back with another office of covering $2300 of the $2700 quote. I said that's interesting, and I'd be interested in working with the dealership to have them make up the $400 difference since they pulled more paint off my truck and that I still think it should be covered because it was mis-diagnosed to begin with when it was under warranty. The dealership wouldn't budge to pick up the remainder.

 

So I've got an appointment with a lawyer to review my case after the holidays and see if they think I should go ahead in small claims.
