2016 Sierra SLT automatic defoggers question

Does anyone know at what temperature the "automatic defoggers" are supposed to work on the remote start of a 2016 (prob 2014-2107) sierra or silverado?

 

I have had fogged out windows at about 39 degrees and the truck did not defog the mirrors or rear window at all. Before I waste a bunch of time at the dealer, does anyone know if the truck (inside or outside) needs to be at a specific temperature before this works?

 

I do have it enabled in the DIC, but so far it seems broken/useless

Is your hvac in auto mode?

It was in auto the time I am talking about.. it has been on manual with the defroster on a couple of times too.

 

What I am talking about is the rear window defrost not the windshield. That one is electronic heating elements

For sure it needs to be a certain temp. I think it needs to be somewhere in the mid 30s. 39 might be too warm.
