Yeppers. L83 5.3 V8 (325 cubic inches for those who love the CI labeling). Based on the Generation 5 small block known as the LT engine family. All aluminum construction, AFM, VVT, Direct Injection. A few nuts/bolts is all that carries over from the Gen 4 LS family. The L83 5.3 does share the same bore and stroke as the Gen 3/4 engine 96.01mm x 92 mm.

This is also the 3rd time the LT1 RPO designation has been used. 1970–1972 Gen 1 small block LT-1, 1992-1997 LT1 Generation 2 small block, and the LT1 Generation 5 small block (LT series). The second time LT4 RPO designation has been used. 1996 on the Grand Sport Corvette, and 2015+ Z06. Also, this is the second go around for the L83 RPO designation, the first use being the dreaded "Crossfire" 1982 and 1984 Corvette engine.

The crossfire engine isn't as bad as everyone makes it out to be

LS architecture with not much else in common with the previous gen IV LS platform. Mostly all new nuts and bolts. AFM, VCT, and DI standard issue. Plenty of power and sounds pretty cool through pipes. Had an LT1 in a 97 Camaro..wasn't very fun. After 3 defective distributors finally had it running well enough to sell. New platform seems robust. Time will tell with how the AFM and DI hold up. Lets all cross our fingers :driving:

LoL, mostly only all new nuts and bolts... There are only like 5 shared parts from the LSx series engines (a bolt, some nuts and valve keepers), the LTx series engines were a clean sheet design.
