No sound from rear speakers

Recommended Posts

Just took delivery of a new '16 3500HD LT regular cab. On the way home I noticed I could get no sound from either rear speaker by sliding the fader all the way to the rear.

If it was only one of the speakers I would think loose wire but I have no idea what would cause this. As this is a brand new truck I'm not real excited about the dealer having to rip apart my dash etc.

Any one else have this issue?

My guess is someone left the connectors of on the speakers.

I saw someone once they just didn't put the rears in but that was on a competitors truck ha ha.

Hello madcowranch,

Transitioning into a new vehicle should be an exciting time, and I know you shouldn't these types of issues. So I finally got my truck to the dealer to look at this issue. They pointed out that there is faint sound coming from the rear speakers and that they are designed to perform this way- like tweeters. Are you kidding me? :freak:

My '03 was not like this.

Just to cover the basics, you checked your balance & fade on your infotainment system?

My rear speakers work well and you can definitely hear them. I would say they are not as loud as my '03 Explorer speakers however.

I'd be curious to hear from someone with a regular cab. Different speakers than what you have Southpaw. And yes I played with all the tone controls, fader, and balance.

Yep, didn't notice you had said regular cab.

Try posting over on the 1500 side of the forum, there are more regular cabs over there than here and most users.

I will let you know after lunch time here. I have a 15 HD, and our plow truck on the lot is a 16 1 Ton both reg. cabs.

EDIT:

Went out and checked mine and the 2016. That is the normal operation. The front speakers in the dash do most of the work. The door and rear panel ones assist. The sound from the fronts projects in the cab and the rears just fill in surrounding support.
