Hooked up some Amazon HIDs. Guess I didn't know I needed the relay. Luckily I called the company (Kensun) and they overnighting them to me free of charge. Anything else I should know?

If the HIDs work like they should and I like them, I plan on retrofitting.

For $70 it's worth a shot.

Buy the correct headlights. Those are going to blind the crap out of everyone on the road. Don't be johnny the ricer, do it right and legal....

What do you suggest?

First is join a Facebook page like headlight junkies, and join hidplanet.com. They will be very useful in teaching you all you'll need to know. Secondly, you need a projector retrofit. You can do this by rebuilding yours, or buying ltz headlights, or aftermarket projector lights. Using an hid bulb in a reflector housing glares badly because the hid bulb emits its light differently than a halogen blinding everyone you meet. You can't adjust, or aim them to stop this from happening. Pnp (plug and play) led bulbs are just as bad in a reflector. Third don't waste your money on kensun, and other cheap brands. They aren't nearly as bright, and not nearly as reliable as theretrofitsource.com will be. I hope this helps you out.

What leads you to believe these lights will blind everyone else on the road?

The reflector headlights shine light into the back of the headlight housing which then reflects the light onto the road.

The problem with these is when it's reflected back onto the road from a brighter light, it's normally scattered light that typically blinds other drivers.

All the new GM's are projector style headlights where the beam runs through a projector and it projects out onto the road.

I'd definitely recommend getting the LTZ projector style headlight from the 14-15 Silverado models. Plenty of these at junkyards now for cheap.

Just so you know - that is illegal. There are very few HID bulbs that are DOT-certified for on-road use and none of the cheap ones are (Morimotos are but they have to be installed in projectors). Also they shouldn't be put into reflector housings since the housings are not designed to cut off the light (as others have already said).

I'm not trying to start a fight and I really don't care what you do - just thought you should know.
