Purchased a cheap dash cam ($44)plus a 32 gig micro sd card and I am amazed. The quality is great. Still learning the setup but about to get it. These things will back up any story you tell. Might be real handy for accidents. Anyone else got some feedback on these.

Model? Or link to it would be nice. I've been looking for one.

OP how are you liking it so far? Does it loop recording (hopefully)

I bought a Street Guardian SG9665GC last summer well worth it. Quality and video quality is A+. Comes with a microsd and has a sesor that detects bumps against the vehicle and saves a video file i believe a minute before and after the bump, that can not be erased unless you wipe the card. Also has motion detection from low to high sensitivity. Loops recordings once the card is full just overwrites the old files but you can save anything you by pressing the home button and it locks that file to no be overwritten.

Im very pleased with it and customer support is very good. I joined dashcamtalk before i purchased it and a few of their guys are very active in the forum.

A video from one morning a couple of weeks ago.

I can take some pics of it installed if anyone is interested. Super clean all wires are hidden canera itself not noticeable to driver when looking in the rear view.

Been jumping mine between vehicles. Velcroed to a garmin dash mount.

I've had a mini 0805 in both my vehicles for some time. Highly recommend it. There are plenty of people out there willing to lie to get out of paying for an accident.

Couple of my recordings:

I'll be ordering two more mini 0805's for rear cameras as well.

Heres how it looks from the driver pov

Wires are tucked in the headliner then ran down the pillar then underneath the door seal thru the glove box to the cigarette lighter outlet

I was looking at one of these...figure since its built with a capacitor and not battery operated I figure it will hold up better in NJ with its swing of temperatures *(Winter I see as low as 5 degrees F / and summer as hot as 100 degrees F.) Gotta love NJ..smh.

Also the guys who plug there dash cams under the dash in the cigar outlet, does the outlet eventually turn off or is that always hot?

(Like if the truck is off in the drive way, does the outlet still have power always? ) Just Wondering...

I have a BlackVue and I love it. Not only was it easy to use but the clarity is mint (day or night). I also have the ability to use an App on my phone to view video, save video, change settings, etc. It's awesome. It's one of those things you buy but hope you never have to use.

The cigar outlet is constantly on. So my dashcam is constantly on, unless I unplug it. I have the exact same thing as the Street Guardian SG9665GC, but different brand. Same functions.

I didn't want to hard wire mine in, so I concealed the wire all the way to the rear seating and plugged it into the cigarette lighter at the back/bottom of the arm rest console. The one turns on and off with the truck. So when I turn off the vehicle the camera turns off, which is handy and I do not have to plug/unplug it at all.

I just leave mine in the one in the front. I thought about stringing it to the back just to hide it, as i rarely have anyone in the back seat.

But i park outside now for the time being so i leave it and on overnight with the motion detection, just in case i guess lol. But once i get to the garage here at work i still leave it in but turn off the camera. Never thought about the cig lighter still drawing power. Havent had an issue yet though.

Capicitor is definitely the way to go, weather is extreme as well. Already reached -26F this winter (without windchill) and this past summer had a couple days reach close to 100
