I had the same issue when i first bought a new 2009 Exteneded cab Z71. Took it to the dealer one time stated it was normal drove the truck for 11 years and just recently traded it in at 130,000 miles and bought a 2018 crew cab 5.3 4x4 ... never had any transmission issues are drive train issues ...

I have a 2018 5.3 6 speed, all you guys find out what transfer cases you have, we’re going to do a little experiment, seems the clunk is an issues with the 10speed, 8speed and 6 speed...could it really be a shitty transmission!?
if you have the same tcase as the next guy but he’s got a different engine and trans than you do, voila, Problem would not be the transmission and I’ll tell you why, my truck does not clunk in4x4!!!!!!!!! Wtf!!!!

all you guys with the “clunk “ try it! Switch to 4x4 just before the clunk happens and see what you get!

Had the clunk when down shifting as well with the 5.3 6 speed. Got a tune for the ecm and TCM shift points were changed to firmer. No more downshift clunk. Shifts nice and smooth up and down. I then changed out trans fluid to amsoil signature (11 of the 12 qts) as well. I don’t even get the clunk I used to get when I put it in reverse. This all done at 24k miles.

This is bullcrap. 2020 RST 6.2L 10 speed auto, still clunking in the rear end when coming to a hard stop (3-1 downshift). Doesn't do it when you just gently come to a rolling stop, so Im wondering if its torque converter related? $55k truck and this is just seeming to get more and more disappointing as the miles roll on. Im at less than 1800 miles too, btw.
