2017 Box Body Plug

Hi,

Newbie to the forum, and recent owner of a 2017 Crew Cab, short bed Silverado.

My question is about an opening in the fwd outer corner of the bed. I discovered the opening while getting something out of the covered bed, at night. I saw light from the garage coming through the upper outboard corner of the bed. Reaching to the area, outside the bed, and rearward of the cab, I discovered an opening in the body. Now the question; does anybody make a plug to close this off? I thought of putting some roofing ice & water shield to cover it. Anybody else notice this and do anything about it?

I've attached an image of the actual math of the parts, looking rearward at the right front of the box from the center of the vehicle. The purple piece represents the body side outer that has the opening. The orange part rearward in vehicle is a reinforcement welded to it. This area can't be seen behind the cab.

Thanks,

Dennis

Breathing is the excuse Dodge used to ease worry over holes in the top arches of the rear wheel wells that rotted boxes out in two years. Good grief. An ounce less metal and you can just hand them your wallet.

Thanks for the replies.

Sorry RT if this seems like a petty issue to you. Guess i'm a little anal on stuff like this. My previous truck was 2012 Avalanche that was water tight. I'd like this one to be the same. I've got the factory sprayed in bed linner on the '17 with an extang solid fold tonneau. The open corner is about 3" tall. Picture attached. Guess i'll go the ice/watershield route

Thanks again for the responses.

please post what you end up doing/going with. I'd like to end up with a waterproof bed as well.

Although it is long it isn't a wide gap. Silicone worked well and I was able to blend it in with a little textured look.

Probably Won't be seen as it is under the bedrug though

The silicone seems like a good solution for the interior of the bed area. You'd think the aftermarket would have come up with something for the exterior panels.

Thanks for the comments & suggestions.
