Hello all, sorry if this is a repeat question, but I am looking at adding a Light Bar to my truck and I am now looking at switches for inside the cab. I am pretty sure I saw somewhere that there was a custom switches under the air conditioning controls, in the same area as the traction control on and off switch.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

if you have a lt this is what you want, you can use the aux switches to control the ground on a relay for your light bar

Yes that is exactly what I was looking for! Can you tell me where you got it? And what it's called... I have met been able to find it.

One suggestion...as I am getting ready to install this setup is to use the homelink buttons and get a wireless remote switch....I plan on doing a dry run in a day or two but no running wires through the firewall or altering the console.

I thought a good place to mount a switch is on that panel. Flush mount push button mounted to the bottom of the first button on the left. My truck is an LT so they are larger and the first spot is blank.

I'm afraid I don't have he homeliness buttons. That sounds like a great idea, but I have the WT so it didn't come with them unfortunately... definitely keep us updated on your progress!

It's a gm multifunction switch from a dealer. You just have to find the right options and with the aux switches. Here is a screenshot from a thread I found a while back with part numbers. I can't remember what the thread was called but they talk about it in depth. Just make sure it has the factory options your truck does. My truck is an ltz so I had to modify and use a matching relay module to use one of the momentary switches to get it working.

I'm just a little confused about how to hook the switch up. Any advice?

For what it's worth, I have a W/T and simply swapped out the roof console and added a homelink module. I found a console with homelink on eBay. The new console was plug and play, no reprogramming or new wiring was needed. As a plus not only am I able to control my light bar but I also programmed my garage door with the remaining buttons. Not a very expensive modification.

You have me interested. What did you use to control the Light Bar? What wireless system did you use? Sorry I'm a newbie at the whole Light Bar thing.

I used the wireless wiring harness that the gent referred to in a posting above. I simply programmed the harness controller into the homelink module.

I made the mistake of first ordering a switch that had 2 separate buttons for off and on which would have required me to use 2 homelink buttons for one light. Just got this new one in but have not wired it up but was told it has one button that controls both off and on... negative is it requires more wiring.
