Insurance on a 2015 GMC DC 4x4 5.3

Insurance rates are determined by many factors from age, vehicle, city/town, other lines of business, insurance/credit score, so what may be the case for 1 person is not always the case for another. I am in insurance and I have never heard of what you are being told. Brother or no brother, shop around and see if you are still getting a good deal.

Yeah, unfortunately STL hasn't been the best city when it comes to crime and break in's. I am sure that probably has something to do with it, especially since I live about 10-15min from downtown. I am planning on shopping around to see what others offer, but I won't make a switch until after the holidays as I would rather tell my brother over the phone and not in person that I am switching...he won't be very happy haha

Well I would suggest you shop around, then present him with your findings before making any switches. Tell him your concerns and see if he can do anything price wise. He will probably try and point out all the reasons to stay with him and State Farm ( and he should as its his job ) but at least this way if he cannot do anything he is aware it is coming and not blindsided by it. Good luck!

Yeah, I called him yesterday when I noticed it went up another $20 a month this time after going up last time(I pay every 6 months). He was able to drop it $15/month, but I am still paying way to much I think. I will most likely stay with him until June and see what happens then. I told him if it doesn't go down by June I can no longer justify paying that much in insurance a month on one vehicle. So we shall see. I just ran an online quote through Liberty Mutual and they were $50/month higher than I am now

^^^ What Doobs said ^^^

I'm a semi-retired claims adjuster (property...no auto stuff) and my ins. agent is a friend of mine. My sister called me a few weeks ago bitching about having to pay $102 per mo. for her new VW something or another. I suggested she call my agent and get a quote. Sis calls back next day and my agent got her with another carrier for about $88 per....still over a thou a year.

My sister is an idiot. I'm quite sure her credit sux. And she got a ticket for passing on the right side in June but told me the tic was reduced to a loud muffler and a $150 fine. Ins. co. checks her driver record and sees a $150 fine for a loud muffler, and knows/assumes there's more to the story....they ain't stupid. I can understand why she pays $88 per mo.

I have excellent credit and a clean driving record for the last 25 or so years. My premium is $629 per year before my x-employee discount, for my '16 Z71, which prolly has a replacement cost of x2 of my sister's V-dub. That, plus I have my home owner ins. policy with the same company.

Like Doobs says, the ins. co. takes many factors into consideration.

State Farm kept raising rates on me so I left and got quite a deduction in overall rates.

I am around $125 a month for 300/500 full coverage on both my BMW Z4 and my '16 Sierra and liability only on my Motorcycle (still high medical). I am with Allied at the moment.

My truck is identical to yours.

With SF, my rate is $375 for 6 months @ 100/300 coverage, after multi-line/multi vehicle and safe driver discounts.

edit: $500 deductible.

You must live in a great area and be much older. My age hurts me I know (26), I'm single, and I do have one prior accident that drops off in June, but that only raises my rate $6.63/month. For some reference my rate raised 5% when I moved from the suburbs to the city (which I can understand with crime rates), then this time it was raised 13% with absolutely no changes to my record or policy. I do have great credit for my age though (800+).

LOL I think the problem is that the brother probably knows how you drive....never buy insurance from relatives man they know way to much about you!

Only takes a few minutes online to get several quotes and there is a HUGE difference in companies pricing.

HAHAHA yeah, but fortunately my brother knows that if he doesn't give me the right quote I will start looking else where. He was able to give me an extra discount and it dropped me $20/month. It's much better but still a little high. I'm going to see what happens in June when my accident falls off and see if I can get any of the discounts I had lost when I got the accident 3 years ago.

I sincerely hope Willyone's sister never stumbles upon GM-trucks.com.....

Not likely. Sis doesn't talk to me much anyways. I'm the family black sheep LOL.

If you live in a higher crime area, rates will be higher obviously. People love to steal the wheels off these new trucks from park and rides. Seen a a dozen sitting on blocks in some of the park and rides around baltimore.
