4wd shift issues fixed

I have a 2004 Silverado 4x4 that had a 4wd shift issue. I didn't find any resolution with a new switch so I bought a transfer case shift module. Install seemed straight forward but due to an injury I recruited help from a mechanic at my work. The procedure for install involved plugging the new motor in then using the push buttons and key on/off sequence to time the new motor and transfer case. The truck couldn't communicate with the new motor. Apparently some trucks have to be flashed to allow communication with the new motor. Nowhere in my research did I come across this fact. I had the install done at a local shop with flash capabilities. I hope this info will help someone.
