Radio Speakers not working

I have the factory AM/FM/CD player in my 06 Crew Cab. A couple of years ago I had the speakers replaced due to some buzzing and crackling. All was good until a few months ago and then I noticed that the only speaker that appeared to be working was the passenger side rear, the drivers side front is very weak. I checked the connections to the speakers and all are good. I don't know much about stereo systems, so what could be the problem? How do I diagnose this? Thanks, Terry

Which connections did you check? I had a similar issue and one of the push on connectors at the speaker was rusted right off. If those are fine, you could try plugging in a new speaker just to eliminate the existing ones from the equation?

Make sure that the balance and fade are all set to power all the speakers. Then you can change out a speaker like mentioned above to see if that corrects the issue. If that doesn't work, try swapping the head unit from another truck. Get a friend to loan you the head unit for testing. You can pull it, test with it, and replace it in under 5 minutes. While you have it out, plug your unit into the other truck to test it too.

Maybe the output channels are going/gone out in the receiver....

After finding out for sure, or commissioning the services of the local audio shop- you could maybe find someone to fix it, replace it with another factory unit, or go aftermarket.

All connections to the speakers were checked and appeared ok.

My brother has the same truck, so I'll try this when it gets a little warmer outside. Thanks

It could be that your speakers are gone again. The door speakers sometimes don't last real long in these trucks.

The best way to know for sure is to swap each one, one at a time, with a known good one & test. If it works, it's the speaker. If not go to plan B.

I replaced mine in the fall with orig spec delco units I bought from Rock Auto. IIRC, they were only about $30 each. The originals lasted about 8 years or so.

From my experience, when a speaker goes it GOES. Once it quits its gone. Once it starts crackling it has had it. That, of course, is understood that all connections are secure and corrosion free.

But, I think once the output channels on the radio go, they can be in and out for a while.

I dont see the radios fail very often but I have a small collection of blown speakers. I would remove the speaker and try a good known replacement.
