HVAC possible issue??

I recently purchased a new 2017 GMC Sierra with the 6.2, and I am still learning all the new features. Before this truck I had a 2007 Duramax so I've had quite a few questions for the dealer on what is correct and what may be an issue. The question I have for you guys is kinda hard to explain but i will do my best. What I'm having an issue with is if the dual zone climate control is not synced the passenger defaults to LO, while the driver retains the previous setting, it's really annoying when you remote start the truck to warm it up and it kicks to LO. I can't say for sure if the a/c kicks on. When they are synced together I haven't had any issues. Is this normal? Thanks!

I have a 2016 and mine does not function this way. Mine retains the last set value. So if the passenger is set to 78 and driver at 64 before I shut down, when I remote start, this is what I see. It sounds like a visit to the dealer may be in order, assuming this wasn't an intentional change with the 17s.

I'm glad to know yours doesn't act the same way as mine does, now to get the dealer to replicate this so they can fix it.

You said the passenger defaults to low, it should default to its last setting try turning it up and hit the sync button on the bottom of the knob, that will sync it to your side of the truck. As for when you start your truck you can change those settings in you infotainment settings for fan speed and yes your AC button will light up but that's not to cool the truck it is to take out the humidity in the air, everybody thinks that's bad that it's on but it actually helps with overall climate in your truck, fogging and humidity

Thanks diver, I'll have to look in the settings and see if something is checked to defalt to LO. It doesn't turn the A/C on. I went and checked this morning. If they are synced then they stay the same temp as last used. I did a little test this morning, when we came home last night I deliberately turned the passenger side up a couple degrees off sync. I went out this morning and sure enough the passenger side was on LO. I turned it back up to 75 and shut the key off. I started it right back up and it retained the 75 non sync setting. I came back about an hour later and it's back to LO.

So I did a little more testing and it seems to be a 15 minute issue. Called the dealer and he tried it on one of their trucks and couldn't replicate it on a different unit. I guess that's good and bad. Bad that it needs fixed, good that hopefully it can be fixed with a reprogram or something. It's going to the dealer next week.

It's s full time job trying to keep my cabin temperature at a normal temperature. When it's cool or cold out, below 68 I can set the temp at 65 and the heater is on, although the cabin is around 75. Gmc says it references the outside air. They told me it's normal, I call bullshit, it's driving me nuts. Anyone have this problem too?
