Boss Install?

Sorry of this was covered.

I am thinking of installing a new Boss Super Duty on my Sierra 2500 SLT. I can save a bunch of money doing my self and a buddy has a garage with a lift to do it.

How complicated is it? Whats involved? I have seen some say the whole front bumper and grill need to come out. Can't believe thats necessary.

Any issues with electrical? I got the impression for the most part its plug and play .

I contacted Boss they say they have no vehicle specific install instructions.

select your truck and plow style.

You will have to cut or remove the lower air dam, but I don't think the bumper must be removed.

I had my plow installed at a shop. I personally, would not try to undertake the wiring. If you have time to troubleshoot, have at it. I know alot of people have done self-installs, so its definitely possible. If you need the plow working ASAP, I would consider having it done professionally.

Thanks did find the install instructions after I posted ...the hardware end seems really straight forward. I been going over the electrical end. Doesn't look to bad. There are a few points I am not clear on but I bet I can figure it out.

if anyone has done it and has some insight, I'd appreciate it.

I did it on my '15 GMC 2500HD. I suggest having help to get the mount lifted into place. I did not remove bumper, you do have to temporarily remove the tow hooks, as the same mounting holes are used.

One side of the mount fought me a bit, but overall wasn't too bad. No lift for me, we were on our backs on the ground. You will need to remove or trim the air dam and trim the bumper as well.

I took my time, routed all wiring as neatly as possible.

I believe I spent roughly 12-18 hours total over 3 or so sessions. That includes a fair amount of time in planning the location for and mounting the solenoid (relay).

For me, after having two botched installs on two previous trucks, the time it took me was well worth the peace of mind knowing it was done right this time. Cost savings was a bonus.

Lighting should be plug and play for the headlights. GM has a nice access point on the big grommet at the firewall for passing through controller side wiring.

Again thanks for the info...I'm not sure I can tie up my buddys shop for that long. Might be easier to just have the dealer do it....I had this same dealer install my Curtis plow many years ago and other than one signal light not working ( which they fixed) its been fine for about 10 years. I just wish they weren't over an hour away....

Can't do anything till I sell my current rig anyway....
