Best way to tie into bed light circuit?

My toolbox blocks most of the light from the factory bed light so I want to add some additional lights in my toolbox and under the side rails to light up the box a bit.

 

I've read a lot of horror stories about frying the BCM when adding accessories. I'm just wondering what the best way to go about this is? I want to acheive a factory-like functionality so no new switches.

Easy. Cut plug from the harness by the lights and wire in led strips that light the whole perimeter.

I just bought an OEM GM bed light kit from a guy on Ebay for $40.00 delivered. His username is theboos95. He is out of Laredo Texas so these may be coming straight from Mexico but so are the ones you buy here in the USA. I've got no problem eliminating the middleman.

 

Plug and play and come on with the factory cargo light switch. 20 minutes to install. Worst part was taking the tail lights out. Beats the heck out of piecing something together and taking chances with the electrical system.
