dl3 powerfold mirror stuck?

Recommended Posts

So my passenger side mirror is sticking when I try to fold it. If I'm next to the mirror and try to fold it, it sounds like it's trying and if I give it a little push to help, it folds in fine, and will do so over and over. Next day it's back to not folding.

Feels like it's getting hung up, like it needs to be lubed.

Is there any way to lubricate these? Anybody else have this issue?

sounds like a gear issue. might be able to take it apart and see what's causing it to bind up.

I agree, my 13 busted the gears when I tried to unfold the mirrors with a bit of ice on them. That is why I carry a few plastic grocery store bags with me. The gear system is not build to work hard at all.

I have the same problem, passenger side mirror do not folding in. But luckily mine is still under warranty, so the dealership is replacing it for free.

what did they say was the cause?

Damn and I just lubed it with 3k miles left on the warranty

Are you saying you lubed the power fold gears in the mirror? With what?

It really never sounded like a gear issue, sounded and acted like it was just a moving part that needed lubrication.

I just put it in the close position and sprayed ptfe dry lube around where the mirror and the base meet.

I mean there's a rubber seal in the base part looked like it just was too much friction to get started.

The only thing they wrote on the receipt as the cause is "electrical".

Hope you got a few miles left on your warrenty.

Anything under parts being replaced? That would tell you what was done.

They have not fixed it yet. I was told they orded me a new mirror.

That is what I figured, replacement. I still have one I bought for my 13 when it went bad... traded in the truck before I had a chance to swap it out.

Only thing you may loose is if you put a spot on the one you have that stopped working. Thanks for the reply.
