Fog Lamp Override

Is there a way to keep the fog lamps on when I activate hi-beam?

I am assuming this is a BCM function-based on the posts I have searched thru.

Just curious.

Thank you in advance.

yes. Its pretty simple to do if you know how to wire a relay. A relay is just a switch activated by another switch. The purpose of using this is to prevent your high beams from coming on every time you turn on your fogs. I suppose you could also use a diode but i would just use a relay. Conect the coil on the relay to the hot wire on the high beams and ground the other end of the coil. Run a hot wire from the fogs to the imput of the relay and use the output to go to the fog. If you want more info let me know and ill give you the pin numbers on the relay.

Just an FYI before you decide to do this....I know in some states it is illegal to have your fogs on while driving with your high beams. I don't know what the reasoning is behind that, maybe that the fog lights really do help you out in the fog because they are so low to the ground. Turning on your high beams in the fog isn't a good thing to do, and by forcing the fog lights off, your vision won't be enhanced, therefore making you turn your low beams back on with the fogs.

Yes! These are real fog lamps, not driving lamps. Indeed, they are the "best" fog lamps I have used for a truck, and they are factory. My area gets a lot of night time soupy coastal plains fog and The General did his homework on the aiming of these things. I almost converted them to driving lamps until a nightime driving experience in some really awful fog convinced me to leave them alone.

I had always understood it was illegal to have fogs and Hi beams on at the same time but never actually saw it in writing so I did a search. In some states it is legal to have them on only when fog is present. It looks like it is illegal everywhere but each state seems to have their own extra rules like lens covers, brush guards etc.
