OEM Molded Splash Guards

I'm looking at a 1500 with the OEM splash guards already installed as a LPO item. Apparently these require drilling to mount. Any experience with these? Anyone see a problem with the drilling? The dealer, of course, says everything will be fine. Sorry if this is covered elsewhere.

Are you worried about your dealer doing a crappy job? If you don't trust him, you can remove the screws and apply additional grease to seal the metal. If not that, I don't understand your concern.

What is LPO ? I am drawing a blank! I would do exactly as TX TruckMan suggested. Sometimes the screws used on such items are pre-coated with a sealer. If this was a dealer installed item, ask them how they were installed!

I had them put on by my dealer when I bought my truck . After 3 years I have had no issues . The molded guards are very durable and do a great job of protecting the paint from chips and such . I think I paid 140.00 for 4 . Not sure what the price is now. I believe if you have them installed before you pick up the truck they are covered under the bumper to bumper warranty .

I installed my own, they have nutserts (sp)? it does require drill into the fender, I install likely a hundred mudflaps a year easy (on vw's), and only issues I ever see is when they get ripped off...

Have them on my true with 285 66 18 KO2's they don't stop much...

As for drilling i did mine myself, isn't rocket science.

Go to your local windshield shop and see if they can give you a small primer stick and a bit of urethane to put in the whole before the screw to prevent rust.

I wouldn't let the dealer........
