Tire Size Question

I have seen conflicting comments on tires of the same size. I have a 2013 Sierra 1500 Crew Cab Z71. I bought the CK375 wheels that are 22 inch wheels. I am buying the Nitto Terra Grappler G2 and the 3 sizes I am looking at are 285/45/22 285/50/22 and 305/45/22. Some people say the last two sizes rub at full lock in reverse at stock height, then some say they don't rub at all. Also I have been told the 285/50/22 will ride bad because it is a 10 ply tire? Any assistance on this will definitely help me on picking the right tire. Please let me know what you guys know, thanks.

Don't know for sure if any of those tires will rub or not. If I had to guess I would say the 305's will probably rub at full lock. I doubt either of the 285's in those sizes will and if they do it should be minimal. As far as the ride quality of the 10 ply tire, yes the 10 ply tires will not ride as smooth as an 8 or 6 ply. The 10 ply tires have stiffer sidewalls so the tires themselves don't absorb as much of the shock from hitting a bump as they would if they were 6 or 8 ply tires with a softer sidewall. On the other hand, you are riding on 22 inch rims on a stock height truck. your not going to get a very smooth comfortable ride without a lift kit to get tires with enough sidewall height so I don't think you would notice the difference in the 10 ply tires that much.

Thanks, I'm going to go with one of these tires. Just not sure which. All the tires shops I have been to don't know if they will rub or not. Neither does my friend who is the service manager at GMC. He said all they have info on is stock trucks. He did say that my truck has the same suspension as the trucks that come with the 22s on them and that my ride would be the same as them as long as I had the 285/45/22 on the truck. Said that those still ride good. Decisions lol...

Yea anything much over a 33" tall and 11.5" wide or wider tire is probably going to rub at full lock. Good luck. I'm sure it will look good whatever way you go.
