Have a 17 currently in transit that I ordered to replace my 2014 CC max tow 6.2 Pretty much same truck except for a few more creature comforts this time around.

Curious if anyone has owned/driven a 6.2 3.73 6speed back to back with a 6.2 3.42 8speed? My current truck gets with the program pretty well being bone stock. I actually made a few passes down the drag strip with it 14:80 isn't too bad for a 5000+ lb. truck. Probably could have done better but the weather sucked (it rained out) and I only made a couple passes. Wondering how it will compare out of the hole/down low with my 14. Of course I could just wait another week or 2 till it gets here but I am growing impatient :driving: LOL, I ordered it back in October

I drove one at work once so not much help LOL, but it felt strong as hell out of the hole and through the first 3 gears hard on that 8 speed.

Pickuptrucks.com at their 1/2 ton shootout got a 14.4 second 1/4 mile time on the GMC they tested and they hit the governor before the 1/4 mile was up. They crossed the line at 96.9mph. If that governor wasn't their they would've probably touched into the triple digits.

I owned a 14 max tow in the picture and had a buyback so I went to a 17 denali both with the 6.2. The 3:73 gears stayed in V4 mode more around town but the 8 speed does alot better on the highway. Hard to tell if there is any difference in acceleration but the 8 speed really rips through the gears alot faster. The 8 speed seems to do alot better in terms of upshifts and downshifts. I think the 8 speed with 3:73s would be the ultimate combo but Im still pretty happy with the current setup. Wish the tuners would crack the code on tuning but other than that I think you will be happier.
