Truck4Life Posted February 22, 2017 Posted February 22, 2017 Hello all, I am having my 2014 Dyno & tuned with all the stock pieces in place. Have any of you heard this before because I am wondering if I can get better performance out of the lag in the gas pedal along with better shifts. This would be instead of throwing add on parts to mask the situation. Your thoughts are appreciated!
shrekmoose Posted February 22, 2017 Posted February 22, 2017 Mine is going in Friday to be tuned get rid of the AFM tour Torque management and firming up the shifts will make it drive much better.
GRN69CHV Posted February 22, 2017 Posted February 22, 2017 I used Hypertech Max Energy. Repogrammed for 87 Octane Tune, lowered WOT shift points from factory setting of about 5600 to 5300, increased shift firmness by 25% and deactivated AFM. Drives great now. I can't say for sure how/if the programmer actually changed torque management, but it does seem to have better reponse. I think a lot of the better reponse is due to eliminating the AFM. Even though the AFM system is supposed to be instantaneous, my thought is there has to be a delay in getting the air velocity back up throughout the entire intake and exhaust tract.
Truck4Life Posted February 22, 2017 Author Posted February 22, 2017 So from what I see not many try to tune the stock parts for tighter performance. Well I will be taking it it to the Dyno March 11th and will post the Pre and Post test. Hopefully I like the results prior to buying any parts!!
KARNUT Posted February 22, 2017 Posted February 22, 2017 Your not looking very hard most people who tune, tune stock trucks and cars. There's even a supporting tuner on this site. The results are all well documented, dyno tunes too. So from what I see not many try to tune the stock parts for tighter performance. Well I will be taking it it to the Dyno March 11th and will post the Pre and Post test. Hopefully I like the results prior to buying any parts!!
