v6 vs. v8 debate

I would love to drive one of the new V-6's just to see what it's like. For me I wanted an LTZ and I don't think they come in a V-6. But the torque and HP numbers appear comparable to my 2002 5.3. So I'm sure it would suit my needs. I'm sure comparing it to my 2015 5.3 I would probably notice the difference.

My first truck was a 1999 Ford Ranger with a 4.0 L V6. It had a 4.10 rear and 4 wheel drive. It towed my family's 6000 pound boat with more authority than my father's 1/2 ton van with 5.0L V8. (I'm sure the lower gears and lower weight helped).

 

If you're buying a truck with pure functionality in mind, the V6 is more than adequate in your situation.

 

In my opinion, these trucks are expensive, V8 or not. For the minimal price difference, I would rather have the V8 with its nice sound and flat torque curve.
