Lift question

I have a 14 silverado ltz z71 and I'm looking to lift it 3.5". I'm debating on running either 18s or 20s with bigger tires. I seen all different sizes of tires that will fit with each wheel without rubbing or cutting. I'm trying to run the biggest tire possible without rubbing or cutting. I was told with 20x9 wheels with a 18mm offset I can only run 285/55/r20 tires. That seems small to me, about an inch bigger then my stock 265s. If that's true do i run 18s so I can get bugger tires then? Help!

Search, tons of information and threads on this same subject with lots of different info and subjective views. So many variables, the best bet is to gather as much information as possible and decide as what might not rub for someone might rub for another. Tire aggressiveness, size, alignment, lift type, back spacing, width, ect play roles. You won't get one good solid answer in here without it being small and on the safe side. There are guys that run 34's on a small level and swear it doesn't rub and just the other day a guy posted his stock truck was rubbing. Look around, this is probably the most common question out there so lots of info.

Good luck.

Man I had the same want's/needs and went with 18" wheels to get bigger tires... look up my posts. It just looks OFF to me and to many.

I haven't posted my fix yet, but I sold the 18" wheels and tires and went back to 20" 305/55/20 and WOW! MONSTER difference!

The 18's just made the truck look like it went to the gym and worked out for months, but never did legs! It just looked off. That big of a truck needs those bigger wheels. In my opinion anyway. Search my posts...
