SilveradoSaver Posted March 19, 2017 Posted March 19, 2017 Do any of you who live in a condo/apartment complex have HomeLink setup for your underground parking garage? Was just wondering if this works for anyone. I would assume these garage door openers are a bit more complex than the average home device.
sdog4127 Posted March 19, 2017 Posted March 19, 2017 I bought new garage openers (liftmaster with MyQ) and they have a yellow antenna wire. My 2009 Tahoe and Silverado could not connect to the new technology. (They are actually a different brand than homelink in these year vehicles, but can't remember the name right now, but ford used them too for a few years). My 2015 and 2016 trucks were compatible with the new openers and learned the remote on first try. But I think the K2 bodies went back to using HomeLink. The way you can tell is the homelink systems have the little house icon embossed in the plastic by the three buttons. If the house isn't there it is the other brand transponder that wouldn't work with the new tech. It may be a software incompatibility between your truck and the openers. I do believe they make repeaters that pick up your universal remote signal and convert it, but needs to be plugged into the opener, so don't think it would work for you in a public garage.
