Max towing confusion

I have a 5.3L 2016 Silverado 1500 LTZ short bed crew cab with the Z71 suspension and the 8 spd trans.

It has the Z82 towing package, but what is my max towing capacity? 9300 or 10800?

Is the Z82 the Max Tailering Package as list here:

Z82 is the "trailering equipment package", meaning your truck just comes with the hitch and trailer light wiring. Your rear end is probably the 3.42 and you can tow around 9,000 lbs (depending if you have 4x4 or not, you didn't say)

 

I have the same Z82 as you do and I know I do not have "max trailering".

Either Z71 or NHT Max Trailering, they are different suspensions and can't exist on the same vehicle.

And you can't actually tow that much.

 

When determining the total weight of trailer and cargo, include the weight of any additional passengers and optional equipment (driver weight and base equipment are already included). See pages 09–15 for maximum trailer weight ratings by specific model.

 

 

So any option you have that's not "base equipment" takes away from the tow capacity. And since pretty much no truck is "base" anymore, very few can actually tow what they're rated to.

A good rule of thumb is 85% of the rating is what a truck can actually safely tow.

BTW, It is 4x4 with 3.42 gears.
