BCM Erasing

I have an OEM BCM that the programming failed part was through the process. Does anyone know if it is possible to have the BCM erased without returning it to GM? Vehicle is a 2009 K3500HD. Thank you.

You could try doing another reprogram/reflash & see what happens. Select the option on the page for programming an EXISTING computer, and it MAY re-write ... but don't get your hopes up.

It's a crap shoot ... and either way, GM wins, and you lose. Wouldn't shock me one bit if that BCM is now a paperweight. We put a man on the moon almost 50 years ago, yet GM can't design a computer that can handle an interruption during programming. That tells me they do this on purpose.

Pay the $55 for the download ( for a second time if it's been over 3 days ) ... then if it doesn't work, you lost $55, PLUS the cost of another BCM.

Hell of a racket that company has going on there ...:mad::mad:

Thanks for the reply. I am going to attempt to reprogram it, but I suspect you are correct about an unusable part. I would have attempted the reprogram immediately again when my access to TIS was still active, but did not realize initially that the data didn't transfer correctly. I was focused on why the TCM and the EBCM would not communicate with the BCM after programming. (Original BCM was dead) It wasn't until I checked the BCM module data info on the Tech2 that I realized that the calibration numbers didn't make sense, and the VIN was unrecognizable, by that time my TIS access was over. One bright note, I was able to get the MSM for a Cadillac programmed earlier that day so not all was lost. Thanks again for your reply.

Nice - glad the Caddie was there.

Oh how I long for the days of points and carburetors ...

Funny how we've come full circle with frequent services, with GDI coking intake valves up. Somehow, that's acceptable today. Such a strange industry it has become!

The Cadillac is an SRX with a 3.6L. Previously have decarbonized it for intermittent misfires. Now this customer is about to get the happy news about stretched timing chains, I am thinking he will be wishing he didn't just purchase this vehicle.

Follow up on the BCM saga. I was able to get the existing BCM reprogramed. It would not allow me to use the "Reprogram" option, but did allow me to use the "Replace and Program Module" option so I consider myself fortunate that I was able to salvage the module. Thanks again for your input.
