2017 Sierra 1500 Bluetooth connection (IntelliLink)

I recently purchased a 2017 sierra 1500 elevation base edition. It has the smaller screen but still has CarPlay, android auto, and Bluetooth.

 

The problem I have is my truck will connect (via Bluetooth) to the phone but the radio plays instead of the last thing I was listening to on my phone. My 2014 Silverado had no problem playing as soon as the Bluetooth connection happened, but in the sierra I have to manually select the Bluetooth source every time.

 

Any ideas on a fix or is this normal now?

Bumping this as it still does not auto play like my 2014 and I haven't found any answers.

I have a 2016 Sierra SLT, and when the Bluetooth connects it stays on the radio. It only auto switches to my phone when I plug in to USB to charge/use carplay. My 2014 also did not auto switch on Bluetooth. And it never ever plays where it left off. I have never seen this happen on any 14+ truck.

my 2014 starts playing music on my iphone where it left off. even after i have been driving my camry. i never had an issue with the screen not staying on bluetooth music. i think it stays on the last screen it was on before you turned off the vehicle.

That's just the way that the I0B radio works... it's not as nice and functional as the I05/I06 radio is.
