Hey guys, Just wondering if anyone has had any luck getting their shaking/vibrating sierra/silverados fixed permanently by the dealer yet.. GM told me there is no possible fix in the near future months ago. Just seeing if anyone had any luck yet.

Most of the time it's wheels and tires. For the few that continue vibrating, I've seen consensus that it's the rear axle...

Mine was fixed by proper wheel balance at a 2nd dealer. First was useless.

This is great news. My 2 fronts were "roadforced" and replaced with another set of trash goodyear sra's. Nothing changed. I still need to take it to another dealer when I get time. I just read something about the rear axle. Thanks for sharing.

I had a roadforce done first time, two new tires and another roadforce the second time.

Went to the 2nd dealer and they balanced them perfectly first time around.

Yeah, The reason I can't go back to that dealer is mainly because when they "balanced" them the first time my one tire had 7oz's of weight on it and the other has 0, not even 1/2 oz. When I brought all that up and that I wanted it rebalanced they told me I don't know what i'm talking about. Called me a city slicker and then it was over. That's my main issue I think, I live in south carolina and sound like i'm from new york.

Yeah I hear you there. That first dealership coated half the wheel in weights, even stacking them. But no their never wrong or do a bad job.

There's still leftover glue that I have to scrape off one of these days

wtf, When I brought this up they all called me crazy. Literally cursed me and my GF out because we said that's not the way it's supposed to be. I can admit i'm a very angry/annoying person when I feel i'm getting ripped off. However i'm glad to know it's in their manual to coat the rims with weights. Did you tell the 2nd dealer your issues prior to coming to them? or did you leave it all in the dark to see what they'd do. I called another dealer which is an hour away.. and my main dealer had already warned them i'd be stopping by. That's my main reason for giving it some time before I go over there. What did you say was wrong with your truck too, I told them to write down HEAVY vibration on the ticket and they wrote slight vibration. Then after the fact they said they couldn't change "my" wording. Is this is very widespread problem that is being completely covered up by certain dealers? or all? Sorry for asking so much in advance btw.

There is not and never will be a golden arrow fix. Some trucks can be repaired with components, other trucks can't be repaired and have to be bought back and resold. If your truck is still not repaired get GM to do a buy back.

I didn't argue with the first dealer about the balance. There were other things that put a sour taste in my mouth and I decided to take my business elsewhere.

I basically resigned myself to dealing with the shake since I had plans to purchase aftermarket wheels and tires anyways. I got lucky with the second dealer and happened to have a 2 hour chat with the service manager one night. I had them install my coilovers and new blocks and they've taken care of me for the most part. Balanced the oem wheels for free.

I've always had terrible experiences with all dealers. All the ones I've come across were slimeballs. This new one is neutral-good with me. He's told me straight up what he will and won't warranty on my truck, based on what he can and can't get away with through GM. He won't risk a chargeback, but will *wink wink* bend the rules for me to an extent.

That being said, my girlfriend brought her Mazda there for a state inspection the other day. I was not with her and they don't know who she is. She failed due to needing new front brakes. Perfectly acceptable reason, I looked when she got home and the pads were paper thin. I wouldn't expect them to pass her even if I had been with her as it's a pretty clear cut safety issue. Quoted her 500 dollars for front brakes, which I'm assuming includes new rotors but she didn't ask/know to ask. She's going to take it somewhere else, I don't want to waste any favor or good graces on her silly car.

But it goes to show how the dealers are in it to make money. You have a good relationship with them, they will take care of you. But if your some joe shmo off the street with a bad attitude they will treat you like a dog.

They won't offer me it, or a trade. I have to go and get more opinions from other dealers before i'm considered. i'm spent about 6 hours on the phone all together with customer support advisors, to executive advisors, and none of them do anything for me. I've asked them every time to get me a buyback and every time it's either not "responded" to or i'm not qualifying for it. The customer support advisors aren't even employed by GM. They are all call centers around the country paying employees 8$ an hour. How do I know this? I called one trying to get a job to see. GM is just another coporate entity that we have to subsidize like all the others.

The sad part is I was so nice for the first 5 visits, which is why i'm sure they thought they could walk all over me(which the did). then I was just getting annoyed. I should of just left them after the first couple of visits reading your success. :/

You can't fix a service departments attitude. Even if you try to take it to another level you'll end up exhausting yourself, or have a spiteful dealer working on your car. Voice your opinion where it counts, with your wallet.

The motor mounts are the cause of the vibration. It took weeks to figure it out.

My 2017 vibrated while towing my boat this weekend. Has not shaken or vibrated up til then. I haven't taken to a dealer yet but I am curious why mine shakes only when pulling my boat...??? 17' Lund Pro Sport walk through fishing boat.
