My 2017 vibrated while towing my boat this weekend. Has not shaken or vibrated up til then. I haven't taken to a dealer yet but I am curious why mine shakes only when pulling my boat...??? 17' Lund Pro Sport walk through fishing boat.

Maybe it's not your truck, maybe it's the trailer.

The frame mounting bracket for the motor mounts to the engine is misaligned causing the mounts essentially to be crushed at the wrong angle. So when you get the right rpms, load, drive shaft speed.... when the stars align it produces vibration. Of coarse some of these trucks vibrate worse than others. Alot of people with these trucks dont notice until you point it out also.

What was shaking? Steering wheel/gear shifter?

I was towing an unloaded jet ski trailer and it sent a serious vibe through the steering column at anything over 60 mph. I sold the trailer before really figuring it out, but it must had had a badly out of balance tire, or flat spotted.

Thank you for the reply.

Were you able to fix the issue and if so exactly what is the fix

Posted

1. Tires

2. Engine mount shimming / replacement

3. Torque converter (8 speeds)

4. Exhaust (2014-2015)

5. Ring and pinion

6. Driveshaft

This is a pretty accurate representation of the various repairs I've had to perform from most common to least to fix 2014+ trucks under warranty. The only permanent fix seems to be purchasing a 2500 or different make as they don't have the same issue.

Did the dealer do it for you? How did you confront them about the motor mounts, did you say you need to torque them? Should I say I took it somewhere independent and they said it's the motor mounts? What should I do.. Thanks for a response ahead of time.

The whole cab of the truck. I could feel it on my chest, legs, etx... wasn't specifically in the steering wheel or pedals or shifter

Diagnosing the vibration isn't as simple as it used to be. The new trucks resonate the vibration so much, the use of a Picoscope is pretty much required to accurately diagnose it. If you're still under your bumper to bumper warranty, ask them to take the readings and to go over them with you. It'll differentiate the vibration from tires, to driveline to engine. I haven't met a vibration yet that we couldn't fix to a customer's satisfaction.

Edit; fix to a customer's satisfaction for awhile anyways

I am a GM tech and yes, the vibration complaints are still present.

When I tow my ski, which is a rxp 300, it still vibes, However I've had a shitty trailer that has made it worse.. some loose lugs on a trailer tire can make it 10x worse

I'd remove your profile pic bro. I really truly appreciate you helping us in this thread but I can almost guarentee it that GM will get back to your with you spreading information like this. I had a service writer say they threaten his job if he is loose with his tongue.
