got bit by a mod bug again! plus i got a Birthday coming up in in a couple of months, half of me wants to leave it be and save the money, the other half says spend it and have fun with life, gonna say 3k in parts is my budget unless something changes. and may increase as my birthday gets closer, i know instill is going to cost on some for instill but would be manageable unless its a insane amount.

i haven't truly priced much and may do a mixture of items as well? and probably gonna say bye to warranty at less then 15k unless my dealer is cool. i figure a stage 2 cam (which has a slight chop) and long tubes will be a dead give away.

programmer-black bear tuning but going with a full efi setup vs auto cal. that way if i wanted to change something myself (i always changed something on my ram with the shifting i loved playing with the settings)

intake still undecided- probably airaid, unless spending more=better

exhaust either-black widow 250 duals, or qtp screamer with a gutted 3rd cat (i think texas doesnt check the emissions?)

long tubes-i really hate to but i love power, i am thinking texas speed long tubes with cats

stage 2 cam from texas speed still gotta call them about it, since i have low miles i am hoping i dont have to do much. could i still make a decent amount if i do

cam only and programmer? also what kind of mpg hit will i take?

i hate to ask what kind of power increase can i see at the wheels, with tune, intake, and long tubes, i doubt i can do a cam as well at the same time haha. i dont have a goal in mind but my 11 ram 1500 hemi 390hp 5speed 2wd made 328rwhp on a custom 93 tune i know it gained 50rwhp at 4k (300rwhp at 4k stock and i forget what peak stock made.) havent dynoed my chevy, but i would like 400+rwhp from this 5.3 6speed. or i will take what i get from these mods i got listed.

catch can from elite.

suspension i am keeping this simple but i would love a cadi style ride on 10plys A/Ts. should i get new uca's or keep stock? truck is mainly a pavement driver but she sees dirt pretty much every weekend so having great control on back roads is great, and smooth ride on the highway.

blistens 5100-would allow me to buy other mods

fox 2.0 with dsc or king 2.0 (which is better?) they both cost close to the same. (note i may be wrong on exact model)

audio

i want the alpine restyle badly but its the cost, of the system. 3k is a lot for a radio upgrade plus it has the abilty to control stuff from the head unit, instead of switches in my dash.

door speakers, just simple probably alpine or kickers with a small amp.

exterior

led lights

i kinda wanna smoke my turn signals but not sure if texas law would allow it (even with bright leds)

rear housings (still not sure on style)

full replacement with built in light bar or grille guard? both 500-grand plus light bar or buy grille guard and put a light bar behind grill? (still not sure on light output though with equipped with a grille guard?)

viair compressor, wonder how much i would use it? i am thinking mount it under the bed? if i get it.

bedliner (may get it along with other mods)

thank you guys, with a lot of options i am not sure what will be the best bang for the dollar spent? i like the whole list...

Thats what i was thinking and I noticed that mangason offers a pay off plan, not sure if i want to go there, as I will be to tempted to increase boost and pop goes the engine. I been boosted once it was diesel though stock turbo was 20psi was pushing 35psi with boost spikes close to 40psi (outside of my turbo's mapping) so i will go boosted but i will do it right.

I did some thinking last night
Efi v2 still not sure but i will have the ability to change tunes or make my own, etc.
Air intake, is there anything to gain spending more money?
Spay on bed liner-very needed
Grille guard-would offer vital protection
And leveling kit-stock is doing fine with 33" tires just a little close to rubbing

also will efi support e85 fuel, what would be required for that? i looked at one company. http://www.serioushp.com/product/e85-high-performance-fuel-conversion-kit/

also a tune only will net me 10hp then my modded ram i had, assuming the source i was reading on here was stock?

Most bang for buck:

Bed-liner - both looks and protection - Line-X

Grill guard and lights - both looks, protection and function

Exhaust - If you still have the OEM exhaust - even the mildest exhaust like I did is nice on these rigs. Linked in my sig. Next step up would be Borla cat back.

Leave the engine alone otherwise - protect your warranty - keep the longevity - keep the dependability.

thanks i got a super 44 instilled without res i left my flapper though, but i decided to shove a bolt in, to keep it from changing sounded so much better, then got a wild hair and cut my exhaust off over the axle has a deeper idle and sounds a lot better does have a slight drone increase but nothing major.

i may add a cutout but not sure if Texas law allows it, but i did find this https://www.summitracing.com/parts/qtp-13300ci wonder since it a part of the muffler, its legal?

i am trying to decide on grill guard, frontier offers a front replacement with a light bar mount which is nice, but if i hit a deer well there goes the light bar. a regular grille guard, with light bar behind the grill may not provide a increased in light output. and waste money. where my truck goes, extra lighting could help. or is there a bulb upgrade for us 16 guys?

i will add a catch can though thats been on the need list.

as bad as i hate leaving the engine alone, i think your on to something i do hate the power output though.

Well my favorite online shop has a 20% off cart goin on. What intake should i buy? I done some research on the forum and airaid is a hit and miss kinda thing, but at the same time its dirt cheap and i am getting a efi tune, or something that allows custom tuning minus dialbo sport.

    • same here , i have a 2020 first gen and the cost to repair these engines far excedes replacement
    • But Grumpy I did show several subdivisions that had homes starting in the 170K range. If you bought a Townhouse or Condo you could go cheaper. Same with a car 3000 dollars in the 70s translates to around 20K today. There are several models at that price. You actually get more for the money. In the 70s I drove a 3000$ car bought a 28K home and made 4.50 per hour. Thank goodness for overtime. Today I could buy a 170K house drive a 20K car and make 25 dollars an hour operating the same machine today. The difference the house, car, machine would be better and have AC. And I wouldn’t be taxed on overtime. And statistically your wife works too. Easing the burden. I thought we agreed to disagree. I brought receipts earlier, showing examples. I think you’re more stubborn than me. I was done with this debate.
    • I’m definitely interested to hear the end result here.
    • My 2025 Silverado 1500 had to receive a brand-new engine (long block) under warranty last month at only around 16,500 miles. Before the replacement, the truck repeatedly displayed "Engine Oil Level Low" warnings, even though the Oil Life Monitor still showed around 50% remaining after about 6,000 miles since my last oil change. After seeing the warning several times, I checked the dipstick with the engine cold, and the oil level was completely normal. The next day, the message escalated to "Add Engine Oil." At first, I assumed it was just a faulty oil level sensor, so I brought the truck to the dealership. After inspecting the engine, they found internal cylinder wall scoring and ultimately replaced the entire long block under warranty. Before this happened, I was planning to install a 4-inch lift and suspension upgrade on my truck. After needing a new engine at just 16,500 miles, I honestly don't see the point anymore. I also contacted GM to ask whether my vehicle qualified for a buyback, but I was informed that it does not at this time. Anyway, this experience has left me with serious concerns about the long-term reliability of this engine. I sincerely hope NHTSA expands the current investigation or recall to include 2025 model and performs a thorough inspection of affected vehicles. My biggest concern is that these engines may fail shortly after the powertrain warranty expires. If GM truly stands behind this engine, then at the very least, please consider extending the powertrain warranty to 10 years for affected owners. That would go a long way toward restoring customer confidence.
    • Without exception but then I'm the odd duck, right? I know what goes into that test, how it is calculated and thus how to beat it. But EPA values are often not beaten by the general public and the government has in past years adjusted the means and methods to come to those values to more closely approximate "Joe Average".    The only real trick to beating that EPA average is don't drive like "Joe Average".    It's the same method you used to profit from "Economic Migration" and in doing so beat the 'stats'. But you, like me, are not "Joe Average".     The thing you don't seem to grasp is this "Purchasing Power Index" isn't forward looking. It doesn't predict what it going to be but looks backward and states what it was. They are not telling us what the THINK, they are telling us what they MEASURED. Example:    Wife says "I'm going to lose 40 pounds by Christmas". May she does, maybe she doesn't but the doctors office who weighed her when she made that statement and again at Christmas only REPORTS what the RESULT was. You and I can banter about what was possible and what aunt Tilly did till the cows come home but the result is the result. Arguing otherwise is.....irrational. That's all I'm saying. This isn't about:      What you are calling a 'Statistic' is a RESULT not a CALCUATION and as a result the RULE. Like gravity as a rule, it can not be broken.
