Sputters and dies after fill-up

I recently got a used 2015 Silverado with 80,000 miles. It's in excellent condition and maintained very well. Today I filled it up and it sputtered and died. It did this three times and finally started and drove back home fine. Any suggestions? Fuel pump, filter etc?

Sounds almost like very, very low quality fuel. Some rural gas stations have "off road gas" or gas designed for very old engines that's only about 70 octane or so. Any chance you accidentally did this?

After fueling it didn't smell very strong, like it had been sitting awhile. After I got home I let it sit an hour or so and it starts normal.

Thanks for the info, I will replace it. Haven't had trouble since...

My g/f had this issue... turns out she put E85 into a non E85 engine.

could be an issues with the EVAP vent valve as well. This will cause issues filling it as well. Keep kicking the pump off.

Bad fuel or bad purge valve. Purge valve sends the EVAP fumes up to the intake to be burned by the engine.
