WANTED: Looking for a square body Chevy 4x4.

I'm not sure if some of you remember I had a black '14 Silverado 1500 Z71, Well because of being diagnosed with stage 4 cancer in the summer of last year I eventually had to sell it because I couldn't continue to make the payments. This is also why I haven't been all that active on here, Especially compared to how active I was when I had the '14.

Well I'm getting close to being able to getting another truck. It sucks not having my own vehicle because I've had a Chevy truck since I was 17, but I'm getting by. I know I can get a GMT400 or a tad newer for the same price as square bodies these days, But, I just want a Chevy truck that already has a straight front axle and no computer. Also I don't want any truck payment. My first truck was an '86, but it was 2wd so I didn't keep it when I got my '98 Z71.

So right now I'm looking for a '73-87 Chevy full size truck. It just has to be 4x4 and have a V8. I would prefer a manual trans, but if it's a good truck and just an auto I will take it. The body doesn't need to be in great shape, just not be wrecked. I just want a mechanically decent truck. I don't want to do a bunch of stuff just to get it running. If I have to do small things to get it going then that's fine. I just know that if it's big enough where the engine or trans will have to be pulled, replaced or rebuilt then it's too much. I'll also be putting the bed toolbox on it that I had on my '14. So I'm not sure if the inside width of a stepside bed would be wide enough. If it's over 61" wide inside to inside then the toolbox would fit. So if it would fit in a stepside I'll take a stepside, but still prefer a straight fleetside bed. And lastly, I wouldn't mind if it's lifted. I just don't want it to be over a 6" lift only because I'm only 5'8" and it will be used as a daily driver and for any kind of work, mostly to haul.

I'm not sure yet of the price range, but it will probably have to be under $5,000 for me to even be able to be interested in it. Over that amount I know I won't be able to buy it.

I live in the northeast part of NC neat the VA line and right on I-95. I don't mind driving some distance, but I'm thinking not over 150 miles.

So if you or anybody you know is selling a truck that meets what I want and isn't too far away then please let me know. I'm trying not to be too picky, but I just know it's some things I want and fits my needs.

    • I understand that. The price is what it is, though. The price is what oil costs today, where our choices have led us, where supply is, and where demand is, in the market that is. Speculation is for futures, what we think the price will be, but with incomplete information at the time the price is forecast. I know you know this, but you appear to be intent on making a secondary point here about what you think the market could or should be, if only other choices.   In 1975 it became illegal to export US Crude. I'm conflicted on what the best answer is. Free markets allow export in pursuit of profit. But there is also a lot to gain by producing and consuming our own oil here. How do you reconcile it?
    • That sir is a choice. And even if it were not for all the reasons stated, this disruption has zero to do with the reality of the actual logistics and everything to do with the greed of SPECULATION. Spot price is irrelevant to reality.
    • What I think you're saying is there is supply here at home, and in Venezuela, and we could ease pricing if only it were favorable to do so.   Well, yes?   But that's not the current market. Supply isn't what could someday exist, if only, it's what producers are willing to produce and sell at a certain price point.   The national price of single family homes would come way down if we'd just slap together a few million homes this summer.   RAM and GPUs would get a lot cheaper if we just set up some factories to produce a bunch more and stopped using it to build out AI data centers.
    • The turn signal/multifunction switch is faulty.  I've seen a few of these go bad at work.
    • I am experiecing the same issue, I have gone in the setting and disabled rain sensing function but I am still experiencing this. Whe i use my turn signal they will redomly turn on. Sometime they stay on and others times we swipe 2 or 3 times and stop. Its super anoying, escpecially after a fresh wash. Anyone have any advice? . rain-sensing function, but I am still experiencing this issue Sometimes they stay on, and other times we swipe 2 or 3 times and stop. It's super annoying, especially after a fresh wash. When I use my turn signal, they will randomly turn on. I am experiencing the same issue. I have gone into the settings and disabled the rain sensing function, but I am still experiencing this.
