7 Point Plug Mount

Recommended Posts

Does anyone have a fix for the 7 point plug for trailers, mine wants to pull right out of the cheap plastic it is mounted to. If I don't hold it it seems like it will just come undone, I have not tried to just pull it out because it comes out a 1/2 inch and don't want to test it so I hold it in. If no one else has this problem then I will take it out and fix it. Thanks.

I'm not sure exactly what your talking about but my trailer wire harness plug in the bumper is rock solid. Only issue I have is my trailers harness is too short and falls out when turning. Re-wiring the trailer to be longer this weekend.

Flip the lid open on the truck plug verify it has that plastic lip hanging down after you plug the trailer in and let go it snaps down and holds the trailer plug in.

It it the whole housing, the plug snaps just fine but the whole entire housing wants to come out. If you guys don't see this than I have to look closer to what's wrong.

I took a look, the metal clips that hold it in are there, I have a really tight plug from the trailer and it just needs to be held in place. My Ford was mounted to a metal bracket, this plastic crappy makes me mad, I'll look into relocating it to a metal mount.

Your talking but the plug in the rear bumper? Mines a little sloppy but would have to really yank it to pull it out. I have a plug set up in the bed for my 5er so this one doesn't get used. I think your housing mount is broken.

Well I pulled the trailer plug without holding the truck side and it pulled out a bit but stopped before it broke. Like you said it is just sloppy, the clips look easy to release, maybe a shim or gasket would tighten it up. It's in a good spot and facing back, not sideways so I like it but it is really sloppy. So in the end it seems fine, if your idea of fine is not designed well, I have spent a lot of time fixing stuff like this on a number of things I have had in my life, I enjoy making something better than it came.

Uh no I don't use mine was giving reference. Maybe fab an aluminum plate to act as a washer behind the bumper. I use old street sign or even license plate from time to time.

Wouldn't warranty cover that if it was broke? on a 2015 truck? My trailer plugs are pretty tight going in and out but they really need to be.

I've used mine many times and although a little sloppy it has never come out on it's own.Not bad for a 20+ year old truck.I've even bent the hell out of it as the departure angle when hills climbing leaves a little to be desired, pounded it with a hammer back into shape and it still worked as intended.

Shameless pics... :jester:

I like the black electrical tape. Actually that Pollack brand you have there is supposed to be the real good trailer plug

Didn't know that, always good to know you have good equipment.I know it's one tough plug lol.

When I went up that steep hill the bumper and hitch dug deep into the dirt,I was surprised it survived :)
