1996 k1500 4x4 problems

I've got a 1996 k1500. The 4x4 has never worked. When trying to engage it I get a click from the TCCM, the 4Hi light blinks for a few seconds, then another TCCM click. I went to replace the actuator this morning because that is typically the culprit apparently. The parts store sold me a 2 wire actuator, but when I got under the truck I found a much larger actuator that has 3 wires (it seems to be all plastic). It still has the same plug as the two wire, but the third wire runs somewhere else. There is a plug on the end of it that disconnects to show 5 pins laid out in a X shaped pattern. Neither actuator seems to do anything when plugged up.

 

1) I can't find any info on actuators like I found on the truck, what is it from?

 

2)what else should I be looking for?

It sounds like the actuator. You have the gearshift right? Or do you have the push button 4x4?

Push button.

You have a early 97. They changed to push-button mid year 96. You need the actuator for a 97.
