Did you have a scanner hook up and got on the throttle to see if it goes higher, or up an incline. Or put it in manual mode and hold the rps at 2500,  Mine goes up doing that.

Now the plot thickens, I decided to change out the oil early, Truck had 800 miles, upon draining oil, I set the filter upside down to drain and it looked like brown metallic paint. Not good. Nothing large but lots of glitter. I'm concerned

Why are you concerned?  You did the really only important thing needed to do.....change the oil @ 1000 miles and purge the thing of all that glitters!  Your fine bro totally expected!

Concerned because I'm not use to seeing that much, I had a 17 5.3 for a few months, I changed the first oil and filter at 2500 miles, I saved the filter, and I just cut it open, it had some but not like this.

Ok, if everything the same engine, trans, rear etc.  Was there a difference in all at driving......Location, Season, towing, overall driving situations.I am babying the new engine/drivetrain or F' IT and punch it to seat the rings proper etc?

I would not be concerned yet. I always do a 500-1000 mile oil change on a new vehicle also. I have seen alot and a little. Many cars/ trucks mostly GM. I also put a magnetic plug on the first oil change. Some motors just shed a bit more some filters catch more. Do next change at 2500 and compare then I go to 5k changes up to 7500. A really good filter is a must. I use Wix which makes Napa's filters.

My 2008 Zo6 shed tons of metal for every oil change slowing very little for 20,000 miles till traded. Mag plug always looked like a Q-tip! Some changes were very short and it still shed a ton.  My 2011 Zo6 shed very little from day one, till present with 24K on it. Tolerances and materials change along with better filters. Your on the right track nothing to worry about. I don't start doing oil analysis till over 15K and it's all meshed in, seated, and flushed.

Cold morning start up, tap, tap, tap, tap, who's that I hear. Between this thing getting hot and all the metal debris in the oil. I betting lifter failing. I don't even have 1000 miles, I changed the oil and new filter. Dealer tried to get some documentation for me on the metal in filter, but came back with that because I changed the filter they couldn't document anything for me.

OK, now I changed my mind, I would be a bit concerned. All of my trucks in this platform, Lt motors (had 4) do the initial rattle, bearing sound at start up. 2 second though. Drives me nuts because it sounds like oil starvation for 2 seconds.

I agree I would be leaning towards a binding, stuck lifter. There have been a couple of guys with lifter issues. Rare, but I have read it somewhere. I would keep your filter, and receipts. He may not document it but you can. I would have a mag plug in there, make them aware and document having them do next oil change. Sorry, doesnt sound good.
