2015 6.2 8sp 2nd tc failure

My 2015 6.2 sierra is going in for the 2nd time for a failed torque converter. First one failed around 16,000 miles and the second one has started showing the same symptoms at 31,000 miles. My dad has a 6.2 truck as well and his tc failed around 10,000 miles. Im getting a little concerned about having to replace the tc every third oil change and the long term costs after the warranty.

Are others having the same issues out of these 8sp transmissions?

What are the symptoms. Shuttering? Going in for my 2nd tq in a few weeks.

Between 40-50 mph it randomly shutters, its even worse under load. My last failure started this around 60mph and continued to get worse the more i drove it.

My 2015 has had one replaced at about 20,000 miles, but it didnt shutter. The rpms were fluctuating on the tac when cruising at steady speeds. I have after market exhaust and could hear it before I notice the tac. It ran fine just fluctuation, so I took it in and had it replaced under warranty. 8,000 miles on new one and no more issues. I work my truck pretty hard pulling also.

I have the same rpm fluctuation at steady speeds but also have the random shutter that feels like im running over a rumble strip.

Does not seem to be a common problem. Any unusual driving habits that could be a contributing factor? I see that your sig is Hotrd ix........................

I hope this TC will hold up. I thought the newer tc's were suppose to be a redesign and better than the old style. Sucks yours will be on its third. Its not a good feeling when you start having issues. Then youre just waiting for the next problem and cant enjoy the truck.

Im hoping mine and my wifes trucks will be able to avoid the A/C condenser issue. Sounds like its pretty wide spread like the tc issues several of us have had.

The truck gets driven pretty lightly, mostly highway miles and i havent towed more than 6k lbs with it.

The username is my old username from when I drove a 5.0 mustang LX.

Your right these nagging issues make you paranoid. The truck already had an appointment scheduled to attempt to fix the noise issue it has when this started. This will be the third time they will atempt repairs for what sounds like a cracked exhaust manifold in the cab The first repair attempt they said it was the exhaust clamp, the second they said it was a cracked exhaust manifold, and this time they are thinking it could be the check valve in the fuel line. Basically the dealer just keeps throwing parts at it with no success and perform no post repair testing.

I too had the TC replaced on my 2015 8 speed. I was told that under manufacture a seal rolled over inside as it was put together, which leaks, and only fix was replacement, with a "new" TC apparently with a new part number to show it was new old stock off the shelf with same issue. It was pretty common in all 2015 8 speeds as my corvette guys have had the same issue. I then had the delayed engagement which required a stator shaft replacement. It has also been reprogrammed two times which improved a lot. But a second TC does not seem to be as common from what I am reading.
