DRLs not working on my 99 Tahoe

On my 99 Tahoe, the DRLS do not come on. The green indicator in the IP cluster comes on though and I can turn it on and off with the emergency brake lever switch. The headlights are functioning normally. The truck has never been modified in any way. Anybody have a clue what the cause could be?

Thanks,

Nope, the fuse checks out ok. The DRLs use the low beam headlights ona 99 Tahoe (like 96-98 trucks), and my low-beams work fine. So, no problem with the bulbs.

Hmm. I have a 99 hoe as well. I have noticed that my DRL's are dimmer than the regular low beams. When I turn the switch they get brighter. You may have a bad connection in the wireing harness. Not sure if it could be a fuse since your green light still comes on. I hope you get it figured out. Good luck.

The DRL's on your bodystyle are not nearly as bright as the actual low-beam headlight. Turn them on and you will be able to tell the difference. Maybe the bulbs have 2 fillimants in them, and the DRL fillimant is burned out in both.

I will check out the module and see what I can find. My wiring diagram shows a relay and a control. Does anybody know where the relay is located?

DRL module under center dash area with heatsinks on it is a very common failure with these. The classis complaint is DRL light on the IPC on, but no DRL's. It can be changed very easily and the cost is low. Good luck.

I went by the salvage yard today and took a module from a truck there. Came home and plugged it into my truck tonight. The DRLs are working like a charm now.

Thanks guys,

The low beams get brighter when you turn on the lights because by law, DRL's are only allowed to have 80% of the brightness of full lighting.
