I had a 2014 GMC and did the Rigid fog upgrade. Loved those lights. I now have 2016 GMC and wanted to add some lights that look good and close to stock. Just wanted to see/hear what folks have done to get some ideas.

Thanks to all in advance!

The 2016 and 17 have LED fogs. They work pretty good. I wanted to add aftermarket lights tastefully to the truck. Not taking out stock. Just wanted to see what folks have done for extra lighting that looks good. Not interested in the grill thing from Rigid but looking for some ideas.

Thanks

why not add a light bar behind the grill ???

Rough country makes a 30" behind the grill kit that works great, however if you have the electric luvours it won't work- they would have to be cut out. Going behind the grill won't rob too much light from a good light bar.

Roof mounted light bar is also an option at the expense of drilling into your A pillar for mounts.

These Baja Designs S2 lights are about as small as I've seen. 2200 lumens and it's very well regulated. Available in a wide flat beam and long range. I have 2 of each beam type to cover it all. I've found that many inexpensive lights claim much higher lumen ratings, but don't control it well and are not as effective. These lights are expensive, but they are U.S. made, the best I've found and they are very small which provides more options for mounting.

I see the new S2 Pro is rated at 2450 lumens.

Looks good on the gmc but the chevy grill would block out a lot of the output. I'm looking for a setup for my 17 Silverado and it looks like the only option is a new grill with built in lights

I'm not a fan of the aftermarket grills. One trick I recall from adding lights behind the grill on a 1971 Pinto, back in the day, was to take a Dremel and reduce the depth of the fins in the grill down to something you can live with, like 1/4" or 1/3" just in front of the lights. This allows more light thru at greater angles. Also, placement of the lights relative to the fins might be more important. You'll have to try it, but I think having a fin dead center on the light may be best to allow the beam to get thru the hole and spread more left and right.

Interesting thought, I might have to look into this. I'm not a fan of this "lets put light bars all over" trend thats happening right now, but I do want one because I like to do night time trailing and its more of a functional/safety item for me. But I really like to have it somewhere lowkey where it's not completely obvious that I have one.

Thanks for the idea!

The other issue with the 2017 is the cooling control shutters. There's not much room back there for a big light bar. You might be able to get a set of S2 lights in there near the center where the grill arcs away from the shutter system. I have looked at a 2017 up close for that. Just seen some pix.

Also, down low near the tow hooks is a small recess in the bumper on each side. S2 lights might fit in there, although I prefer to mount lights higher.
