Can anyone point me in the right direction to get some info on the Android Auto feature. I have a 2014 Z71 Silverado.

Is there any benefit to me getting the android auto app since I drive a 2014 truck?

ok, thanks

I just responded in your other thread. The 2014/2015 can not be updated through software to get CarPlay or Android Auto. There are 2 guys on these forums that can get you the 2016/2107 hardware and software with the updates. It is plug-and-play but not exactly cheap.

You can download Android Auto and just use it on your phone. It is a good way to have navigation via Google maps, hands-free phone calls, and any music app organized in one place. If you have bluetooth, the audio will play on your radio. One thing I like on using it just on the phone as compared to my radio is that I can use the satellite view instead of only having basic maps on my radio. But I still prefer to use it on my radio even with basic maps because the radio screen is much larger than the phone screen...

This guy is exactly right. The app also makes the icons bigger and easier to hit while driving. If you have a mount for your phone, it could be perfect. It's a free app, no harm in trying it out.

But it will only project onto the radio screen if you have the Android Auto feature in your truck. This is what the OP asked about is ONLY available on the 2016/2017 (you can get it on 2014/2105 if you go aftermarket).

Or buy the OEM kit from MVI. I have it in my 14 All Terrain. I thought it was a cool thing to have before having it and now that I have it I've probably used it 5-6 times. Google maps is the best part. If there were more apps that were compatible I may use it more often.

What does it cost to get the kit from MVI?

Roughly $1000. I got the factory nav, android auto option. I've seen just the android auto versions for $700 online.
