Vent-anchored cell phone mount?

Thinking about getting one if these in my 2014 LT. Anyone have experience or an opinion on them?

 

There are a few different types. I feel like the ones that sit up on the dash would put the phone too far out of reach.

I have one in my camaro. I like it. Bought it from amazon. Holds my iphone7 fine. I also have one in my truck but it’s attached via 3m tape

Im not a big fan of those, I use a window suction mount. It has a long reach and puts my phone even with and above my blinker switch. No risk of breaking the vent and is d durable.

I use one though mostly for rental cars. The drawback is that it forces the direction of airflow and it may be slightly different than you want. I've also had it pop off a few times on bigger bumps. That said, I still prefer it to a window mount. I had a Steelie vent mount for my phone, worked pretty good, other than taking curves or making turns, the weight of the phone would swing the phone/vent to the outside of the turn/curve.  Found mine at Home Depot for $20-40.  Another downside, when you upgrade your phone, you have to get a new magnet for the back of your phone.

I have the one that attaches on the passenger side vent, I've had a few other mounts but they all failed over time. I picked up a cheap stick on magnetic holder a while back so I reused that and it's holding up fine so far. The issue with a mount that sticks to the dash I've found is that there aren't any really flat spots to stick one in a k2 truck.
