Deer!!!!!!!!!!!!!&

I got nailed by a big ol' deer last night. It ran right into my door as I was going

about 70mph. Broke off my mirror and messed up the door and front quarterpanel. I'm guessing 2k damage. This stinks!!! I got my truck in the bodyshop this morning and am waiting on the damage. I ran off the road into a ditch pretty hard after it hit me. My transmission seemed to shift funny afterword. When it shifts over about 3k the rpm's seem to drop a lot more than normal. Could I have damaged anything major with a hard hit like that? maybe a broken troque converter? Any ideas? Thanks.

Welcome to the club! I had a deer run into my driver's door about a month ago. I'm still waiting for the bodyshop to fix it though. Since I am the bodyshop, it's probably going to be a while. When I wrote the estimate on mine, it came to a little over $2500.

$2175 total damage!!!!!!!!

Thank God for insurance. I was surprised it was that high. They're replacing the door shell/mirror/fender and painting some misc. scratches. I guess the only good thing is that since they are painting everything I'll get rid of some of those previous scratches I could never wax out myself.

I hit one doing 55 on a 4 lane highway going to work one dark morning. Scared the P--- out of me, needless to say I was wide awake after that. I didn't stop but watched my gages, all was normal. When I got to the gate to the base the guard looked at me like what the heck happened. When I got out and parked the truck my grill was gone, the bumper was pushed up under the truck, the hood had a huge bulge in the center from the deers head, the drivers side headlight was just hanging by the wires, turn signal was gone, driverside front fender was pushed in and up.

Needless to say when the insurance adjuster wrote up the estimate it was priced at $1900 and that was with generic parts. The truck was to old for GM parts. Anyway I asked if the whole truck could be painted since he had to do the whole front end anyway. He told me an extra $250 to do the rest of the truck. Turns out it only cost me $69 because the insurance adjuster wrote up stuff I didn't need so he didn't put them on. It looked great and got a ton of compliments after that. I just had him black out the whole thing and get rid of the grey grill and bumpers. Oh by the way that was on my 93 Sonoma. That was one tough truck.
