sunroof wont close

looking for help with a sunroof that wont close ,I have currently had nothing but issues with my hometown GM dealer and cant find solutions on any forum pages that I have searched .

I currently own four GM vehicles the problem is with a 2008 HHR SS sunroof opened and now wont close ,after narrowing down the issue being the motor is it possible to jump the motor to run it closed. thanks for any help

If the motor is bad, what would make you think you could jump it to close it? It’s just not going to close.

the motor is controlled by a module that runs more than just the sun roof motor on OE sunroofs they are able to be moved by a jumping sequence but can get any gm techs to indulge the sequence of what wires to cross to jump the motor to run close and try to reset roof

Any electric motor for the most part has a two wire connector. Then reverse polarity for the opposite direction. If you can get to the motor connector directly, it’s pretty straight forward. But if you say the motor itself is inop, jumping it won’t work either

not sure on your specific vehicle, but every car i have had with a power sunroof also had a manual crank as a back-up.  they were usually hidden under one of the plastic panels on the headliner.
