2017 Sierra All Terrain X

Just purchased a '17 Sierra All Terrain X. Sport bar came installed, but does not have lights.  Any recommendations and how to install non-oem lights and maintain minimal mods on the dash (no holes)?  I'm thinking about buying the oem light kit, but have serious heartburn with the cost.  Thanks !

Several people have replaced the 12v sockets with a simple switch. They fit well there and can be covered up. You could also always wire them to your high beams. Run a relay off your high beam circuit and have that switch the bar up top on.

Another way to handle switching & make it look nice is to get one of the upfitter switch bars, or a different version switch bar &  replace the switch bar located below the HVAC. Get one that can handle whatever switching you want & it looks factory, plus no holes need to be drilled in the dash.

The upfitter switch bars are avail from GM and are reasonably priced from what I understand. Can also get a version from a higher end truck at the wreckers.

I’d honestly go with the OEM switch with some Rigid lights.

Since you have the Sport bar, GM makes a knob to replace the regular headlight knob (you might actually have it installed already).

So instead of just being able to turn your headlights/fog lights on, you can click it once more to then your sport bar lights on.

Ok...good news, I took the rear break light off the bar and guess what...it has two runs for the the lights!  I think I found the oem light switch PN that has a button for the fog and light bar lights......does anyone have any instructions on how to remove the panel that houses the 4WD and light controls on the dash?  Thanks for the input..

Thanks! You guys rock!  I've got the switch and lights (Rigid) on order.  I'll post pics when I do the install. Thanks, again

So I bought the lights, installed them.  Got the switch from the dealer and turned everything on....no luck. Looking at the wire loom, the wires for the third brake light and off road lights run to the engine and then run into the fuse box.  Problem is only the third brake light runs into it, not the wire for the off road lights...dead end.  Dealer is no help, other than trying to sell me the wire loom that I think I already have,  just missing a connector or something...switch and lights look great, too bad I can't turn them on. Might have to resort to aftermarket, which is something I didn't want to do.  More to follow.

Try messing phil @pgamboa. He has an incredible knowledgebase on these trucks especially when it comes to the pinouts and electrical.

There is a local member here that has this bar as well.  I briefly looked on the up fitter schematics for this and couldn't find anything on this light.  It's nice to see a pic of the connector.  Does anyone know how this light is OEM controlled?

iirc it was via one of the upfitter switches above the console. Below the hvac. Thats what I saw from their press release info I think.

The light is controlled from the light control switch..pic below. This one is different than the original as it has an extra button to control the light.  I purchased from the dealer... I'm thinking the light wiring goes into the engine fuse box, but don't know where or how

If you know the pin from that button. Just make your own harness with a relay. Thats the easy way to go unless you want to do it 100% factory style. Phil does that. I'm a bit lazier.
