It't not pressurized at all. It's not an oil line or a fuel line that runs actual fuel pressure or oil pressure.  The reason the silicone will not work as an oil pressure hose or fuel pressure hose, is because the line will balloon,split or kink with pressure because it is nor reinforced tubing like a fuel pressure hose.  You don't have to take my word for it. It's just what I use and I have used in the past with no problems.


The purpose of a catch can is to take what is being sent out through the positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) valve, and separate the actual oil particles that may come out, collect it, and send just air and vapors back to the intake manifold, as opposed to the PCV system sending both air, and vapors and oil particles back into the intake.

A thick walled Silicone tubing would probably work for a while, we use this type of tubing in our peristaltic pumps because of its resistance to collapse. But I question it's longevity with exposure to heat and combustion byproducts (I have some in the garage and it has become brittle and split from use with petroleum products).

No harm, no foul...

I would guess at some points in the RPM/load operating range of an engine that the manifold experiences pressure (lifting the throttle from a WOT run maybe?). I want to remember the vacuum guage in an old truck going to negative vacuum (i.e., pressure) at some point...
